Getting rid of bags under the eyes

The skin around the eye area is the thinnest on the face and abundant in blood vessels. The accumulation of fluids under the sensitive skin region can lead to dark circles and swelling, particularly when lacking sleep. Slices of cucumber or bags of cool chamomile tea soothe the skin and have a draining effect. Follow with an eye cream and gently massage it onto the orbital bone to stimulate blood flow and reduce swelling.

Swollen eyes can be an indication of dehydration or excessive consumption of salt which both lead to water retention. Up your hydration levels and swap out salty snacks with alternatives that are low in sodium.

Fuller lips

Fuller lips have always been considered beautiful and the trend is as prominent today as ever before. However, the lips become thinner with age because the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid slows down. There are a few tricks that can be done to make lips appear fuller:

Follow a diet that is rich in proteins and vitamin C to support collagen production. In doing so, it contributes to protecting the structure and curb the lips from becoming thinner. So, fill your plate with chlorophyll and protein-rich food, such as lentils and fish.

Lips appear fuller when the skin is exfoliated and hydrated. Follow a good lip care ritual and stay hydrated.

Cleaning make-up brushes

Keeping your make-up brushes clean is the most effective way to reduce bacteria, which prevents flakes and breakouts on sensitive or acne-prone skin. Ideally, make-up brushes should be cleaned once a week using a shampoo. Place the bristles under warm running water and apply a few drops of mild shampoo or perfume-free soap. Gently massage the bristles to breakdown make-up buildup and dirt. Rinse well and place on a clean towel to airdry.

Eliminating deep-set pimples

It's tempting to poke or squeeze deep-set pimples but we advise you not to! In doing so, the infection and inflammation will only penetrate deeper into the pores, which increases the risk of scarring.

Place a warm, damp muslin cloth on the face to soften the problem areas. Cleanse the skin twice a day using a gentle cleanser. Gently pat the skin dry after cleaning then follow up with an anti-blemish serum, like the Pai Skincare All Becomes Clear Blemish Serum or an anti-blemish cream on the affected areas of the skin.
