This healing agent is prepared from cold root and herb extracts according to folk medicine practices. It is used as an external wound healing agent in festering wounds, sprains, fractures and inflammation. The wound-healing astringent property is partly based on the content of allantoin. Allantoin stimulates the division of cells and supports external wound healing. Allantoin helps to loosen up wound secretions and thus may lead to the better formation of new tissue.
