How to get rid of make-up stains without having to do laundry? Here we have some natural stain-removal tips that may help you out.

Cornstarch & baking soda: Dream duo!

Most make-up products are made up of fat and dye, both of which must be removed quickly in order to prevent the fabric from staining. Therefore:

1. Use an absorbent cloth to blot the make-up stain.
2. Then, sprinkle and press the cornstarch onto the stain, and leave on for a few minutes. This helps to absorb the remaining oil found in the make-up.
3. Remove any cornstarch residues and moisten the stain. Follow by sprinkling the stain with baking soda. This helps to remove the colour.
4. Repeat this last step until the colour disappears.

White fabrics

1. Blot the make-up stain with an absorbent cloth.
2. Once the stain has dried, moisten bile soap and rub the soap on the stain. Not only does the soap eliminate the colour, but also any residual oils and fats.

Ice cubes

1. For liquid foundation / self-tanner / concealer stains, it is best to "scratch" the stain before it dries.
2. Rub an ice cube on the stain using circular motions.
3. Blot the stain with a paper towel.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the colour is removed from the fabric.

Nylon pantyhose

• Use an old pair of pantyhose to remove compact foundation, blush or eyeshadow stains.

1. First, remove excess powder from the fabric. Use a blow-dryer on the cold setting to blow away the powder on the surface or the fabric.
2. Then "brush" the stain by gently stroking the pantyhose across the stain. The pantyhose serves to absorb the colour pigments.
3. Do not forget to put the pantyhose in the washing machine in order to use it for any future make-up stain removals.

Bread

• If you act quickly enough, using bread or a piece of toast can remove lipstick or foundation stains.
• This trick works well, especially on dark fabrics. The stain does not disappear completely, but it is a good method if you're pressed for time.

Cleansing wipes

1. Caution: Before using cleaning wipes, first test a small area of the fabric first to see how the chemicals found in the wipes react with the fabric.
2. If no reaction occurs, you can start wiping the stain using circular motions. It is best to start at the edge of the stain and slowly move towards the centre.
3. Rinse the fabric with cold water after getting rid of the stain.
4. Then dab the stain with a paper towel.
