ECOCERT Certified Cosmetics

Ecocert Label ECOCERT, an international active and independent inspection body with headquarters in France. Since 2002, it also inspects natural ingredients and natural and ecological quality of cosmetic products. Today ECOCERT is one of the best known labels in the field of standardization regarding natural cosmetics. It conducts rigorous testing and evaluation of products and has gained high esteem throughout the years.

Basic requirements for certified products are:

  • Raw materials must be obtained from renewable, eco-friendly sources and carefully processed.
  • The products must be free from GMOs (genetically modified organisms), parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicone, PEG, synthetic perfumes or dyes and animal products (except when naturally produced by the animal e.g. honey, milk, etc.).
  • At least 95% of the total ingredients must stem from natural origin
  • The packaging must be biodegradable or recyclable.

In addition, a distinction is made between ECOCERT Organic Cosmetic:

  • At least 95% of all plant-based ingredients and at least 10% of total ingredients are selected from organic farming.

And ECOCERT Natural Cosmetic:

  • At least 50% of all plant and at least 5% of the total ingredients are selected from organic agriculture.
